Course Code: GMN258

The course is designed to explore the basic sociological theories associated with event risk management. It addresses the life cycle of a crisis in the planning and execution of Caribbean events and the legacy benefits associated with planning major events. 

The course also takes a critical look at the political, social and economic impact of events locally, regionally and internationally while exploring the influence of culture on the way event risk is managed in the Caribbean. Participants will be exposed to various aspects of crowd management that will enable them to effectively plan and manage crowd behaviour and response.

  • Risk Assessment; Alcohol at Events
  • Crowd Control
  • Critical Issues for Event Safety
  • Outdoor Events (stage safety, pyrotechnics, parades and Crop Over)
  • Tomorrow’s Risk Management.
