Our client, a business development agency responsible for the development and promotion of the Manufacturing, Services and the Small Business Sectors, is seeking to recruit a Chief Executive Officer to lead the organisation’s strategy as defined by the Board of Directors.

The  CEO  will  direct,  monitor  and  recommend  changes  as  necessary  to  the organisation’s  programmes  and  related  activities  and  provide  regular  progress reports to the Board.

Reports To:          Chairman, Board of Directors

Requirements:

  • A  strategic  thinker  with  demonstrated  analytical  and  technical  skills  at  the national,  regional  and  International  levels  in  industrial  development, enterprise growth and trade promotion.
  • A  confident,  competent,  articulate,  proactive  visionary  who  is  a  team  player and can excel in a challenging, dynamic environment.
  • A decisive executive with excellent communication and presentation skills who can  lead  a  multi-disciplinary  team  with  diverse  objectives  and  network  with industry experts and the media.
  • A  professional  qualification  or  a  post-graduate  degree  in  Business Administration,  Marketing,  Operations  Research,  Project  Management, Economics, Finance or a related discipline and not less than seven years’ senior management experience in the public and/or private sector.
  • Awareness  of  market  access  agreements,  global  commodity  chains  and  /or brand manufacturing processes will be an asset.

Duties

  • To develop and implement the organisation’s strategic planning process in consultation with the Board and senior officers.
  • To be responsible for the preparation of the organisation’s annual work programmes, budget and to set targets, standards, deadlines and establish appropriate control systems.
  • To co-ordinate and monitor the programmes and activities being implemented by the various Divisions of the organisation, review such programmes and activities and to institute any necessary change.
  • To co-ordinate and be responsible for the preparation of the organisation’s Annual Report.
  • To provide regular reports to the Board on the progress of implementation of the organisation’s plans and programmes.
  • To develop the organisation’s manpower plan, determine staff development requirements and to recruit and maintain an efficient and highly productive and motivated staff.
  • To appraise reporting staff against agreed objectives and work programmes and to take any remedial action necessary to ensure adherence to overall objectives.
  • To develop close working contacts with private and public sector organisations to ensure the effective co-ordination of programmes and the provision of an integrated and effective service to the business community.
  • To develop and submit to the Board for its consideration, financial and technical programmes as required by stakeholders.
  • To establish close relations with international donor agencies with a view to maximizing their assistance to Barbados.
  • To establish the organisation’s publicity and public relations policy for approval of the Board and to ensure its effective implementation.

 

The successful applicant will be contracted for two (2) years in the first instance. A  competitive  remuneration  package  including  a  gratuity,  entertainment  allowance and a fully maintained vehicle will be offered.
